Timothy Walker - A Life with Plants

Wednesday 17th April at Caversham Baptist Church from 7:30pm.

Among his many other accomplishments, Timothy Walker was  Director of the University of Oxford Botanic Gardens and Harcourt Arboretum.  In his talk Timothy considers plants that have been important in his life as he takes an autobiographical stroll through the highly manicured grounds of his gardening career.

Ray Broughton - Propagation and the garden tour

Wednesday 15th May at Caversham Baptist Church from 7:30pm.

Having trained at RHS Wisley in the mid 1970s, Ray Broughton was Head of Horticulture at Sparsholt College in Hampshire before being awarded a Fellowship of the Chartered Institute of Horticulture for his services to horticultural education.  In his talk Ray shares his passions over a diverse range of topics such as organic gardening, pests and diseases and vegetable and herb gardens.

Gillian Taylor - My Greenhouse Year

Wednesday 16th June at Caversham Baptist Church from 7:30pm.

Gillian formerly worked as a vet but now devotes most of her time to gardening.

She is a member of the Historic Rose Group, Auricula Society, Hampshire Gardens Trust and Plant Heritage.
Her talk will cover aspects of greenhouse design, uses including overwintering of tender plants, propagation, production of flowers and vegetables and where to visit interesting greenhouses.



In person talks

Everyone is welcome at our talks, members are free and non-members are welcome to attend for £3 per person.  Refreshments will be served at the end of the talk.  There is some limited disabled parking (in the church car park) otherwise free parking is available over the road behind Waitrose.
